Caroly Van Duyn

It is my mission as an artist to portray a first hand account of the events and observations I experience along the path I travel. Artwork is a form of evidence in my lifes journey. I am a witness who offers a visual testimony. Each Sculpture is a juncture in the road, a point of departure for people to embark upon in their own journey of thought, speculation, inquisitive reaction, and sometimes identification.

As a sculptor I use clay from the earth, fire, and found materials to give form to my expression. The fire and the earth contribute a distinct primal character, forever emitting nature and its essential place in our lives. Found materials provide a record of the evolution of weather and growth. Working with these elements allows me to be a medium, an artist evoking the human experience through nature.

This relationship of ideas and materials come together forming sculptures that have evolved through the spiritual, emotional and physical world. I work with the inspiration that my art will be the fertile ground for new ideas, thoughts and conversations to begin.
